The inaugural meeting took place March 20, 2009. Each chef had to cook a crab cake and a steak dish. Sounds easy enough until the judges pulled out their score cards.
Brendan won with his crab cake that came with a ridiculously good guacamole side (had a lemony kick). Surprisingly, B. used frozen crab meat. Sabrina created small, light and fluffy crab cakes (fresh meat) that came a close second. I went another direction: an Asian-inspired crab cake (frozen meat) that was way too heavy.
The steak course was a meat-eaters dream. Sabrina took home the top prize with her yummy dish that included a peppercorn sauce.
I worshipped at the foodie altar of the Barefoot Contessa and made her “steakhouse steak” and Roquefort chive sauce recipes.
I love this recipe because it calls for loads of butter and no BBQ is required (BBQs and I don’t mix).
THE SCOREBOARD
Brendan: 1
Katherine: 0
Sabrina: 1
